“Brooke Ceramics Ltd is a Hull based, local, family business, now into its third generation.
The Brooke family business started in 1925 when Eernest Brooke married Teresa Kaye and opened an ironmongery shop down Holderness Road. (photo of old shop)
Their business prospered and they opened further shops in Hull before the war. After the war, their son Reg Brooke returned from the Merchant Navy and expanded the business further.
When Geof Brooke joined his father in 1981, he took the bold move of switching from general DIY and hardware to focus entirely on tiles and bathrooms.
Geof started Brooke Ceramics Ltd in 1988 and opened the tile superstore in 1993, (photo of store 1993) which was expanded in 2005 to become the UK’s largest and now includes a huge range of bathroom products. (current store photo).
