Coving is an essential fitting in commercial, leisure, and food preparation environments where hygiene and ease of cleaning are a priority. The coved profile eliminates the floor-to-wall junction where bacteria, grease and debris accumulate in a standard right-angle skirting, making it the preferred choice for commercial kitchens, changing rooms, pool surrounds, food production facilities and healthcare environments. At 148×109×9mm it sits at the base of the wall, either flush with the floor tile or surface mounted over an existing finish.

Flush mount

Floor tile and coving installed at the same time. Coving sits flush with the wall surface, creating a seamless transition. Used in new build or full refurbishment projects.

Surface mount

Coving installed over an existing wall finish. The coving sits proud of the wall surface. Used in refurbishment projects where the wall is already tiled or plastered.

Which angle piece do you need? The External Angle fits where two coving pieces meet at an outward-facing corner — such as around a column or pillar. The Internal Angle fits where two coving pieces meet at an inward-facing corner — the most common type, found at the junction of two walls. Both are available in all six coving colours.

Adhesive — required

S1 Flexible Tile Adhesive Fully vitrified porcelain tiles and fittings require a C2TE S1 flexible cement-based adhesive. We stock rapid-set and standard-set options from Mapei, UltraTileFix, Ardex, BAL and Kerakoll.

Grout — recommended

Kerakoll Fugabella Color 3kg CG2 WA hybrid resin-cement grout in 50 designer colours. Water-repellent, naturally antibacterial, suitable for porcelain and all commercial wet environments. Joint widths 0–20mm.

No sealing required. Fully vitrified porcelain tiles and fittings have a water absorption rate of less than 0.5% — no sealing or protective treatment is needed on the tiles themselves.
